With the official appointment of Gian Piero Gasperini on the Roma bench, the Giallorossi are ready to revolutionize several departments, starting with the flanks.
In fact, Roma are said to be focusing on the right flank above all, to favor Gasperini’s preferred 3-4-3 system.
Overall, Roma’s full-backs have contributed 25 goals in total over the last five seasons, a modest haul when compared to the numbers of the teams coached by Gasperini: in the same period, his Atalanta full-backs have scored 45 goals.
As reported by Il Messaggero, the first name to end up on Roma’s notebook is Agustin Giay, an Argentine born in 2004, considered one of the most promising talents in South American football.
A versatile right-back with a past as a centre-back, Giay grew up with the legend of Javier Zanetti and currently plays for Palmeiras.
The price set for his transfer is around 15 million euros.
In addition to Roma, Napoli and Benfica are also interested in him.
However, the club does not seem willing to negotiate before the Club World Cup.
In addition to Giay, Nahuel Molina also remains in the background: Atlético Madrid, however, start with a valuation of at least 30 million.
