Roma and Milan have identified their favorite options to fill their dugouts, Cesc Fabregas and Vincenzo Italiano respectively, but Como and Bologna are resisting. The Lariani have fended off Bayer Leverkusen, which are likely to hire Erik ten Hag, and are trying to do the same with the Giallorossi, La Repubblica informs.
The capital club has struck a verbal agreement with the up-and-coming coach, but his side doesn’t want to let him go. They have already started working on next year’s squad. He’s under contract until 2028. The Biancoblù haven’t named their price to free up the boss. At the same time, he doesn’t want to force his way out to keep things cordial.
Roma will continue to pursue Fabregas, which doesn’t need any more convincing, while Milan face an uphill climb to poach Italiano. He’s less eager to depart than his colleague, although the extension talks will need some time to get sorted, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
That would leave the Rossoneri in a pickle. They covet Massimiliano Allegri, but Napoli have blocked him while waiting for Antonio Conte’s call. The final summit will take place after the parade and a visit to the Pope. Inter are also lurking. Igli Tare is evaluating fallback options like Roberto Mancini and Thiago Motta. Olympique Marseille announced they’d stick with Roberto De Zerbi.
Somebody will inevitably draw the short straw in a busy carousel, and the Rossoneri are in the worst spot. Their management surely needs a win and can’t botch another hiring, but the odds seem stacked against them. It’d be time for them to pull one out of the hat for a change.
