Paris Saint-Germain is 90 minutes away from clinching a spot in the UEFA Champions League final. This would be a major accomplishment, considering it’s their first season without Kylian Mbappé.
Moreover, with Mbappé and Real Madrid crashing out in the quarterfinals to this same Arsenal squad, it would be a more impressive if the Parisians can advance past the Gunners next week.
With the capital club becoming a better collective unit and Real Madrid regressing in Mbappé’s first year, there are major concerns about PSG’s decision to build a squad without their all-time leading goal scorer.

RMC Sport’s Pierre Dorian discussed whether PSG could play in this manner with Mbappé in their starting 11. Nonetheless, Dorian notes that it was ideal for the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner to leave so PSG could install this tactical system that spotlights the collective unit rather than an individual.
“Last year, if PSG weren’t stronger than that, it was because of Mbappé. This project was impossible as long as he hadn’t left,” Dorian said on the Super Moscato Show (h/t Le10Sport). “You don’t build this kind of collective with Mbappé, so the answer is no! They tried for two years. He had become a problem at this club, and his departure solved that problem.”
