Striker Mehdi Taremi is on the verge of joining Olympiacos.

The Iranian only just joined Inter last summer. The Nerazzurri signed him on a free transfer after his contract with Porto expired.

However, Taremi never quite lived up to expectations at Inter.

Therefore, Inter took the decision to sell the 33-year-old this summer, just one year after he had arrived.

There were numerous clubs to show an interest in Taremi.

These ranged from Premier League clubs like Fulham and Leeds United to Brazilian clubs Botafogo and Flamengo.

However, it is Greece where Taremi will in fact be playing his football next season.

Olympiacos agreed a deal with Inter in the last few days. Then, they also reached an agreement with the player.

According to Calcio e Finanza, offloading Taremi will save Inter €4.62 million in wages.

That is the total gross wages remaining on the last year of Taremi’s contract with the Nerazzurri.

Furthermore, the outlet note that the figures for what Inter paid in agent commissions to sign Taremi are not publicly available.

However, Calcio e Finanza estimate that if the commissions were around €2 million, then the €2.5 million fee that Inter are receiving from Olympiacos would cause them to register a €1.1 million capital gain.
