A significant portion of Manchester City’s €55 million investment in AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders will be headed for the Eredivisie, according to reports.
The Netherlands international had rapidly emerged as Manchester City’s priority midfield target heading towards the now-ongoing summer transfer window, and the process of signing the player has developed relatively easily.
Beyond agreeing upon the terms of a contract with the 26-year-old and his representatives, there was little in the way of hurdles to overcome in dialogue with AC Milan, and as such a medical and documentation signing has proceeded over the course of the weekend.
Reijnders is believed to have spent the entirety of Sunday in Manchester after temporarily leaving the Netherlands international camp in between their FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Finland and Malta this week.
Now, having returned to Ronald Koeman‘s side, Tijjani Reijnders is expected to see out the remainder of the Dutch camp in the build-up to and including the clash with Malta on Tuesday evening, before meeting his Manchester City teammates for the first time.
But while the deal is largely complete, details concerning the structure of the agreed deal between the clubs involved has now emerged among reports, indicating that a significant portion of the funds could be headed in the direction of the Eredivisie.
That is according to the information of Italian journalist Daniele Longo, who reports that AZ Alkmaar will be entitled to 10 per cent of Tijjani Reijnders’ €55 million fixed fee agreed between AC Milan and Manchester City earlier this month.
Upon the completion of Reijnders’ latest appearance with the Netherlands national team camp, the versatile midfielder is expected to link-up with Manchester City at their training base later in the week.
That will then be the first time that the player gets to meet his new teammates as they begin preparations for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, where three matches await Pep Guardiola and his players in the initial group phase.
Manchester City are due to open up their campaign at the new-look, expanded format of the Club World Cup with a clash against Moroccan side Wydad AC, before facing off against Juventus and the United Arab Emirates’ Al Ain.
