FC Barcelona are often linked to the best players in world football and even the most promising talents. For the Catalan club, it is never about the player’s age and much more about the quality that they can deliver. This much has already been proven by the faith that Barcelona has shown in young gems over the years.
Now, however, the competition for places at clubs like Barça is at an all-time high. Modern football is extremely demanding, both from a physical point of view and a mental one as well. For that reason, not every player is well-equipped to take on the challenge of a club like Barcelona.
Still, that does not mean that most players should stop dreaming of potentially joining the Catalan giants someday. As one of the most iconic clubs in world football, the reach of FC Barcelona is global and it remains a dream club for many aspiring young players and established superstars as well.
Recently, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, this statement was proven once again as a certain AS Monaco player’s resurfaced old video reveals that he too has always wanted to join the Catalan giants.
Aged 22, Maghnes Akliouche is a regular for Monaco and is a player Barcelona fans would remember all too well. In the UEFA Champions League opener this season for Barça against Monaco, a game that Hansi Flick’s side ended up losing, Akliouche was one of the players who decided the game for his team with his goal.
Now, however, it has come to attention that the player has always aspired to potentially play for La Blaugrana one day as a team that he likes beyond just Monaco:
“Apart from playing at Monaco, I’d love to play for Barça.”
In that older video, he also confessed that he thought a certain Barcelona icon was the best player in the world for him as well:
“Messi is my idol. He’s the best player in the world.”
As for further preferences, the €40 million-rated French player also confessed that La Liga is his favorite top league as well, potentially adding even more fuel to the rumors that will now possibly start linking him to Barcelona:
“The Spanish league is my favorite because of its style of play.”
It remains to be seen what kind of development can take place from here, but this kind of information or confession always benefits most of the involved parties. However, it does not seem likely that Barcelona would actively pursue an attacking midfielder any time soon, given the kind of quality they already possess in that position.
