Kerolin says representing her nation is a dream and an honour.

When the 25-year-old joined City in January, she became the first Brazilian to represent the Women’s team.

It’s an accolade she’s worn with immense pride since, and that has been evident in her energetic performances in sky blue thus far, totalling four goals in 18 appearances.

But the other badge, just as important to her, is Brazil’s.

Ahead of her nation’s opening Copa America game on Sunday against Venezuela, we revisited Kerolin’s episode of the Official Man City Podcast.

The speedy, eye-catching winger was a guest back in May and during her appearance on the show she expressed the delight she has when representing her country on the international stage.

“I think when you play for your national team, it’s always a dream. So I just feel really happy, it’s an honour,” began Kerolin.

“So when I’m there [on international duty] I’m going to try my best for my whole country, for my family and my friends. So I just feel really excited and I really believe that people are saying to me now that at my age I’m going to start my best moments so I’m working really hard to see that.

“My previous experiences have given me courage and to be brave and to believe. And the coach gives us the freedom to be us.”

Since her debut for Brazil, against England in 2018, Kerolin has featured in the iconic yellow jersey 47 times, during which time she has also won the 2022 Copa America and a silver medal at the 2024 Olympics.

And during the podcast, Kerolin also detailed how the Brazil team has developed in recent years and has seen that come to fruition by beating some of the best national teams in the world.

That will undoubtedly fuel their desire to win another Copa America.

“I think when you look back for Brazil in 2023 and 2024 we were playing against really big national teams and winning these games,” said Kerolin.

“We won against Spain, the best team in the world, and this was showing us we’re moving the right way but not too much confidence because I think too much confidence can be bad for us.

“Of course we want to win every game, it’s our mentality now. We believe and we trust each other and have a confidence we can win but we are going to keep building.”
