AC Milan are playing for their second trophy of a difficult season in the Coppa Italia final, but owner Gerry Cardinale is not expected to be there.
According to what is being reported by both Tuttosport (via MilanNews) and Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Cardinale is not expected to be present in the stands at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday night.
Instead, the club’s owner he will follow the match in the United States. The delegation from the management there to support the team includes CEO Giorgio Furlani, the technical director Geoffrey Moncada and senior advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Sky reported at the end of last month that Cardinale had been in Italy over the Easter weekend to meet with Furlani and Ibrahimovic. He is also believed to have met with Fabio Paratici, one of the sporting director candidates, but nothing ended up moving on that front.
Cardinale has not been at a Milan game at San Siro since the once against Venezia in September. The American was spotted next to Florentino Perez in the Champions League game between the Rossoneri and Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Not having a leadership that feels strong ‘Milanismo’ is one of the things that Zvonimir Boban highlighted as a problem in an explosive interview he did with Andrea Longoni, which you can read in full on our site.
