Manchester United Fans’ Travel Turmoil: Brentford Fixture Raises Concerns

Scheduling Snag Hits United Supporters

Manchester United’s faithful are up in arms over the latest TV scheduling of their Brentford clash, which leaves them in a logistical limbo. The fixture, set to unfold at the Gtech Community Stadium, has an 8pm start time, clashing head-on with the last train’s departure to Manchester from St Pancras, scheduled at 8:02 pm.

Travel Woes for Red Devils’ Fans

This clash of timings has sparked a wave of frustration amongst the Red Devils supporters. Due to engineering works at Euston over Easter, there are no alternative train routes to Manchester, pushing fans to contemplate a daunting 410-mile return journey by road.

Supporters’ Trust Speaks Out

In an outcry against this oversight, a spokesperson for the Manchester United Supporters’ Trust articulated the collective disappointment to the Telegraph: “Sadly match-going supporters are all too used to the fact that we seem to be the last people considered when kick-off times are determined. For the fourth time this season, United are away from home at 8pm on a Saturday which just goes to show the blatant disregard the TV companies and football authorities have for match-going fans. During Covid they said that football without fans is nothing – it’s time for the football authorities to show they meant it.”

Call for Consideration

This incident spotlights a recurring issue in the realm of televised football: the clash between lucrative TV schedules and the practical realities of loyal fans. As Manchester United prepares to face Brentford, the plight of their supporters serves as a poignant reminder of the sport’s true essence, where fans are not mere spectators, but the lifeblood of the game.
