The long-awaited return to Italy of striker Mehdi Taremi could unlock the 32-year-old Iranian international’s departure from Inter Milan.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInter1908.
Inter Milan striker Mehdi Taremi has been stuck in Iran for the past few weeks.
The former Porto striker had returned to his home country at the start of the month.
But then came the unexpected development of Israeli airstrikes across Iran. Then, Iran retaliated with strikes of their own.
The two countries traded strikes for almost two weeks. Meanwhile, the United States also bombed a number of sites in Iran.
However, the US, Iran, and Israel subsequently agreed upon a ceasefire.

Whilst there was some uncertainty in the immediate wake of the ceasefire agreement, it now looks clear that the hostilities have come to an end.
Therefore, civilian airspace has reopened in Iran.
And this is good news for striker Mehdi Taremi. The Iranian international had been unable to fly to the United States for the Club World Cup – but he can at least return to Italy.
However, Taremi may not be staying for very long.
It is no secret that Inter are keen to offload the Iranian after one season at the club.
Taremi scored just three goals last season. There is no dancing around the conclusion that he just hasn’t met expectations.
Of course, trying to find a transfer for the 32-year-old would be tough if he couldn’t leave Iran.
However, Taremi should return to Italy soon. Therefore, Inter can start working on an exit route for him.
The likes of Besiktas, Fulham, and Nottingham Forest are reportedly eyeing up a deal for the Iranian.
