Liverpool are facing competition from Manchester United for the signing of Ederson in the January transfer window.
That is according to a report in TuttoJuve, which has named Manchester City among the other clubs who are keen on the Atalanta defensive midfielder.
The Italian news outlet has claimed that La Liga clubs Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are also interested in the Brazil international.
Ederson is one of Atalanta’s top players. They want at least €60 million (£50.4 million) in transfer fees for the 25-year-old.
While Man United are arguably the biggest club in England, it is hard to see Ederson pick them over Liverpool.
United are having a torrid campaign and are not even challenging for the European places in the Premier League table.
By contrast, Liverpool could end the season as the champions of England and Europe.
Ederson is used to competing for a place in the Serie A top four and playing in the Champions League with Atalanta.
A move to Liverpool would be a step up for the Brazil international defensive midfielder.
He could compete for the Premier League title and the Champions League. At United, he could be playing a team that could have to settle for mid-table mediocrity.
Ederson is a regular in the Atalanta starting line-up, and it will be intriguing to see if they are tempted to cash in on him if they receive an offer this month.
Atalanta are only two points behind leaders Napoli in the Serie A table. Gian Piero Gasperini’s side could also directly advance to the round of 16 of the Champions League.
Ederson has bagged two goals and one assist in 19 Serie A appearances this season.
