Serie A champions Inter Milan have reportedly set their sights on Atalanta center-back Isak Hien to replace Francesco Acerbi.
According to Tuttosport via FCInter1908, the towering Swede has emerged as Inter’s number-one candidate to fill the Italian’s shoes.
Despite being one of Simone Inzaghi’s most trusted allies, Acerbi is in the twilight of his footballing career.
Inter rewarded their faithful servant with a new contract earlier this season, securing his services until 2026.
However, the 36-year-old remains a short-term option for the club.
Therefore, Beppe Marotta is in the market for a younger defensive alternative.
Udinese’s Jaka Bijol has long been Inter’s primary objective.
But Hien’s scintillating form in Bergamo has caught Marotta’s eye, making him shift priorities.
Indeed, the 25-year-old is now the leading candidate to take Acerbi’s place at Giuseppe Meazza.
Atalanta paid Hellas Verona only €9 million to sign Hien last January.
However, his valuation has since skyrocketed, with La Dea now demanding around €30m to sanction his exit.
If Inter agree to pay the price, it would be the club’s most significant investment since Oaktree took over from Suning.
Meanwhile, Spezia’s Nicolo Bertola is no longer among the club’s objectives.
