Fulham Eye Potential Move for Manchester United Striker Rasmus Hojlund

Fulham are exploring the possibility of signing Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund, according to a report from the Daily Mail. The Danish striker, just 22, has attracted interest as the Cottagers prepare for potential changes up front, with Rodrigo Muniz linked to a move to Atalanta.

While AC Milan have already opened discussions with United, offering a £4.5 million loan fee and an option to buy for £39 million, Fulham’s approach is more cautious. As the Daily Mail notes, “Fulham would need to know Hojlund wants to come before making a suitable offer.”

Stiff Competition at Old Trafford

Hojlund’s reluctance to leave stems from his determination to prove himself under new United boss Ruben Amorim. Despite the arrival of £73 million man Benjamin Sesko — part of a £200 million attacking overhaul that also includes Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha — Hojlund is “backing himself to still make a contribution” should Sesko struggle to adapt.

United, however, appear ready to move him on, having struggled to see the same prolific returns from Hojlund that he produced at Atalanta. Amorim’s summer rebuild has left the Dane facing limited opportunities.

United’s Transfer Balancing Act

The Daily Mail highlights that United are eager to raise funds, with other potential outgoings including Alejandro Garnacho — valued at £50 million and attracting interest from Chelsea — and Antony, who has been linked with Real Betis. Jadon Sancho is also on Roma’s radar, though United prefer a permanent sale over a loan.

With their eyes on adding a midfielder and possibly a goalkeeper, the Red Devils are under pressure to sell before they buy. Hojlund, for all his potential, may prove to be one of the more realistic departures.

What This Means for Fulham

For Fulham, a move for Hojlund could add youthful energy and physicality to their attack, but only if the player himself is ready for the challenge. As it stands, his focus remains on forcing his way into United’s plans rather than seeking a new start at Craven Cottage.

Our View – EPL Index Analysis

From a Fulham supporter’s perspective, the Hojlund link is intriguing but complicated. On paper, the 22-year-old fits Marco Silva’s style: mobile, strong in the air, and with a knack for running in behind defences. His time at Atalanta showed glimpses of top-level potential, even if his United spell hasn’t delivered consistent returns.

The key question is commitment. If a player is hesitant about joining, fans worry about motivation levels. Fulham don’t want to be a second choice, especially when replacing someone like Rodrigo Muniz, who has grown into his role. Hojlund’s statement about “fighting for his place” at United suggests his heart may not yet be in a move south.

There’s also the matter of adaptation. The Cottagers can’t afford a long bedding-in period if they want to push into the top half of the table. While Hojlund offers long-term upside, short-term impact is equally important — especially with the competitive balance in the Premier League’s mid-table.
