Chelsea could miss out on the signing of Olympiacos striker Charalampos Kostoulas to Brighton according to reports.
The Blues made Liam Delap their first summer signing and more fresh faces are likely to follow the 22-year-old through the door at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are set for a critical window and could look to add another striker, but they are looking for a centre back and right footed attacker.
With Delap through the door another striker isn’t a pressing issue, but it doesn’t mean the Blues aren’t interested and assessing potential options.
Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike is a player Chelsea are said to be interested in, but they aren’t prepared to match the €100m asking price for the 22-year-old.
Chelsea are thought to hold an advantage over Liverpool in the race for Ekitike, but it would appear unlikely a deal for the France under-21 international would be done in time to feature at the Club World Cup.
However, there’s another striker Chelsea appear to be interested in and that’s 18-year-old Kostoulas, and Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has provided an update on the situation.

He took to X.com and said:
“Understand Brighton are very confident of getting the deal done for Charalampos #Kostoulas!
“It’s not completed yet, but talks are advanced — the package is worth around €47 million.
Still worth watching whether Chelsea make another move.

Kostoulas scored six goals in 21 appearances in the Greek league last season, whilst he’s also made two appearances for the Greece under-21s.
Whilst any move for Kostoulas would be one for the future, Chelsea have also been linked with West Ham forward Mohammed Kudus.

It’s been reported the Blues have been offered the chance to sign Kudus, and the Ghana international would provide an option across multiple positions in the forward line.
West Ham have reportedly turned down an offer which included players like Robert Sanchez and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and it remains to be seen if the Blues will go in again.
