Report: Chelsea gather information on Serie A star with big summer move a possibility | OneFootball

Chelsea have asked for information on AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan as they weigh up a possible move according to reports.

It’s set to be a busy summer for the Blues, with it believed the club will look to sell as many as seven or eight players in order to fund moves in the market.

Chelsea face a critical window with a number of areas needing to be addressed as the club look to sign a striker, centre back and right footed attacker.

Chelsea ask for information on Maignan

One area fans would like to see upgraded is the goalkeeper, and Chelsea have really struggled with that position this season.

Robert Sanchez hasn’t been good enough, with the Spaniard making a number of costly errors, but he was only replaced for a few games by Filip Jorgensen before being reinstated as number one.

It’s believed Chelsea aren’t currently planning to sign a new keeper, although that hasn’t stopped them being linked with Borussia Dortmund’s Gregor Kobel and Southampton’s Aaron Ramsdale.

However, Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb have reported the Blues have asked about France international Maignan along with Aston Villa.

The Frenchman is said to be in talks to renew his contract which expires in 2026, but a deal hasn’t yet been reached.

Chelsea have previously been linked with Maignan, who’s made 44 appearances in all competitions, keeping 11 clean sheets.

It’s been reported one of Sanchez or Djordje Petrovic, who’s excelling at Strasbourg will be sold this summer, whilst Chelsea’s stance on Mike Penders is he’s not for sale.

Goalkeeper is such an important position and Chelsea are still yet to get it right, but an experienced proven shot stopper like Maignan could really help them out until the club feel Penders is ready to step in and compete for the number one shirt.
