Chelsea are among the clubs interested in AZ Alkmaar’s teenage midfielder Kees Smit this summer according to reports.
The Blues have been busy this summer already and have signed Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens and Joao Pedro, with more new faces expected to arrive.
Chelsea haven’t ruled out another attacker arriving, whilst they are also thought to be in the market for a centre back to strengthen Enzo Maresca’s squad ahead of next season.
Whilst strengthening the first team is important, Chelsea are always on the lookout for young talents, and haven’t been afraid to splash the cash under the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital ownership.
The Blues have heavily targeted the South American market, whilst also looking to pick up some of the best young talent Europe has to offer, and it appears another name could be on their radar.

TBR Football have reported the Blues are amongst the clubs interested in AZ Alkmaar midfielder Smit, who is a Dutch under-21 international.
The report adds Tottenham are also interested and along with Chelsea have been following the midfielder for a number of months.
TBR state Real Madrid, Ajax and Bayern Munich are also aware of the situation, and the midfielder could cost around €25m.
Smit is under contract at AZ Alkmaar until 2028, and made 43 appearances in all competitions last season, in what was a breakthrough campaign for the teenager.
Whilst there’s interest in Smit, one midfielder who’s set to leave is Lesley Ugochukwu, who spent last season on loan at Southampton.
The 21-year-old joined Chelsea for £23.2m from French side Rennes in the summer of 2023 and has made 15 appearances for the club.

Chelsea’s preference is to sell Ugochukwu, and the midfielder is attracting interest from both Valencia and Hamburg.
It’s thought if Chelsea can’t sell Ugochuwku for an acceptable fee, their next preference is another Premier League loan.
