Edoardo Bove is close to making his return to football after collapsing on the pitch in February, but the Roma midfielder will probably have to go abroad.
He was on loan at Fiorentina when he suddenly fell to the ground 17 minutes into the rescheduled Serie A match against Inter at the Stadio Franchi on February 6.

His heart had briefly stopped, but was beating again by the time Bove was loaded into the ambulance and taken to a nearby hospital.
An undiagnosed cardiac condition was found, so doctors provided him with an implanted cardiac defibrillator, similar to the one given to Christian Eriksen in 2021.

According to Sky Sport Italia, tests have shown that Bove has made a full recovery and should be allowed back on the field from next season.
There are still a few more tests to be passed first, but the 23-year-old can see his career continuing very soon.
Eriksen was forced to leave Inter after having the defibrillator implanted, because the Italian rules are very limiting on the risks of cardiac issues.
With this in mind, it is likely Bove will too have to play outside of Italy if he is to make his return to the football field.
