Atalanta intensify negotiations with Fulham

Atalanta are accelerating efforts to secure Fulham forward Rodrigo Muniz, with talks scheduled in the coming days as both clubs seek to bridge the gap in valuation. The Italian side regard Muniz as a priority signing before the Serie A season begins and are prepared to make another push to conclude negotiations.

The Brazilian striker, 24, proved decisive for Fulham last season with 11 goals in all competitions, further enhancing his reputation as a late-game difference-maker. His most recent contribution came at the weekend when he struck a 97th-minute equaliser in Fulham’s 1-1 draw with Brighton on the Premier League’s opening day.

Valuation gap between clubs

Fulham have set an asking price in the region of €50 million (£43.1m), reflecting their belief in Muniz’s importance to the squad. Atalanta, however, value the player closer to €40 million (£34.5m). The expectation is that discussions will focus on a compromise, potentially around €45 million (£38.8m), with performance-related bonuses included to satisfy both sides.

The upcoming meeting, expected early in the week, is regarded as pivotal. Atalanta manager Ivan Juric is eager to avoid beginning the Serie A campaign without a recognised first-choice striker, and Muniz remains at the top of his recruitment list.

Fulham weigh options amid interest

For Fulham, the potential departure of Muniz represents both an opportunity and a risk. The forward has grown into a reliable figure at Craven Cottage, but a substantial fee could provide significant funds for reinvestment before the transfer window closes.

The Cottagers remain cautious, mindful of the need to strengthen their own attacking options should Muniz depart. Internal discussions continue over possible replacements, with Fulham expected to resist agreeing to terms unless their valuation is closely met.

Atalanta’s recruitment team is also monitoring alternatives in case negotiations stall.
