The arrival of midfielder Andy Diouf will help Cristian Chivu make the transition to Inter Milan playing in a 3-4-2-1 shape.
This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Reportedly, coach Cristian Chivu wants to change the formation at Inter Milan.
The Nerazzurri have been playing with a 3-5-2 shape for the last six seasons. That is the formation that both Antonio Conte and Simone Inzaghi exclusively used.
However, Chivu wants to freshen things up with some new tactical ideas.
The Club World Cup provided a preview of the Romanian’s new formation.
Chivu wants an extra player staying up and supporting the attack. Therefore, he is keen to use a 3-4-2-1 system – or even a 3-4-1-2.

In the view of the Gazzetta dello Sport, new signing Andy Diouf will help facilitate this tactical change.
The Frenchman is particularly adept at driving up the pitch with the ball. He is mobile and athletic, and can cover ground.
Therefore, Diouf will allow Inter to become more direct in possession.
The 22-year-old has the ability to handle more of the duty of carrying the ball up the pitch on his own. This means that Inter could be less reliant on having three central midfielders passing the ball around.
