Real Madrid are yet to release their squad list for the highly anticipated clash against Atletico Madrid, and the reason behind this delay revolves around Kylian Mbappe’s fitness status.
According to journalist Miguel Angel Diaz, the club is waiting for the results of medical tests before making an official announcement regarding the squad.
Mbappe suffered a knock to his ankle during Real Madrid’s recent league match against Rayo Vallecano at the Santiago Bernabeu. Since then, his availability for the upcoming fixture has remained uncertain.
The French forward did not take part in training on Monday, instead undergoing recovery sessions and physiotherapy to treat the injured ankle.
On Tuesday, he was able to participate in a closed-door training session at Real Madrid City, but the coaching staff is still not fully convinced about his readiness.

As a result, medical tests will be conducted early in the morning to assess his condition, after which Carlo Ancelotti will hold discussions with the player before making a final decision.
Real Madrid are already dealing with multiple injury setbacks. Defenders Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao, and Jesus Vallejo, along with midfielder Dani Ceballos, have all been ruled out due to various injuries.
Their absence further complicates the squad selection process, making Mbappe’s situation even more significant.
Meanwhile, there is some positive news, as goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is set to make his return after recovering from discomfort. Antonio Rudiger is also expected to be back in the squad after overcoming an illness.
If Mbappe is unable to feature in this crucial encounter, it will force Ancelotti to rethink his starting XI. The manager may have to make tactical adjustments, with Brahim Díaz emerging as a likely candidate to step in.
The final decision rests on the outcome of the medical tests and the conversation between Ancelotti and Mbappe. Until then, Real Madrid will continue to hold off on releasing their official squad list.
