Joe Hart was following Celtic’s Champions League game on Tuesday evening and was impressed with one particular Brendan Rodgers signing.
Celtic drew 0-0 at Dinamo Zagreb. The Hoops will be pleased with the point. The Scottish Premiership giants are now unbeaten in their last four Champions League games.
Former Celtic goalkeeper Hart was on co-commentary duty for the match for TNT Sports 2, and he noted during the match how good Auston Trusty has been this season.
Trusty joined Celtic from Sheffield United for £5 million in 2024. The 26-year-old has made 19 appearances this season, scoring once.
Hart said about Trusty in the 50th minute of the match: “Trusty coming in this summer, taking a little bit of time, but he seems really established.”
Celtic manager Rodgers included Trusty in the starting line-up against Dinamo in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.
Trusty started alongside Cameron Carter-Vickers in the heart of Celtic’s defence and gave a good account of himself.
The American star was reliable at the back and kept the Dinamo attackers at bay.
According to WhoScored, Trusty had a pass accuracy of 95.5 percent, won five headers and took 123 touches. The Celtic defender made three tackles and three clearances.
Celtic are having a wonderful campaign, and Trusty is playing his role in it.
The Hoops are very likely to win the Scottish Premiership title this season, and they will also fancy their chances of qualifying for the Champions League play-offs.
