A headline member of the youth ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has seen his future heavily influenced by the decision of Toni Kroos to hang up his boots.

That’s according to Marca, who point towards Mario Martín as the player in question.

Midfielder Martín has for his part seen his name take on increasing prominence in Spain’s capital over the course of the last couple of weeks.

This comes after the 20-year-old was afforded his first and 2nd appearances in La Liga, as just rewards for his long-time excellence at academy level.

Martín was, until recently, nothing short of determined to seal a summer departure from Madrid, aware that the star-studded engine room cast in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad made his path to regular senior minutes a near-impossible one.

The situation, however, now appears to have changed.

As per the aforementioned Marca, Toni Kroos’ retirement announcement has given rise to fresh hope on the part of his young teammate.

Added to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the future of Dani Ceballos, and his sudden emergence as a matchday option at the Santiago Bernabéu, and Martín, all of a sudden, sees his prospects as altogether more bright.

It is in turn concluded that:

‘Mario Martín is determined to continue and has conveyed this to Real Madrid.’
