According to MARCA, both Luka Modric and Lucas Vazquez are still waiting for a clear answer from Real Madrid regarding their contract renewals.

With their current deals set to expire at the end of the season, the duo is keen to stay at the club, but as things stand, they are fully aware that securing extensions may be far from straightforward.

Real Madrid’s policy on renewing veteran players has always been quite firm: one-year extensions, reviewed annually.

As part of this tradition, the club usually informs players by late April or early May whether or not they are part of next season’s plans.

However, with that crucial window fast approaching, neither Modric nor Vazquez has received any formal communication from the club. This silence has naturally raised concerns about their futures.

They want to continue

This season presents a different challenge with the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.

If the players are not renewed and instead choose to continue their careers elsewhere, it is unlikely that any new club would allow them to delay their arrival until after the tournament and their subsequent post-tournament break.

This could force both veterans to make tough decisions about whether to fight for another year at Real Madrid or accept early offers from interested clubs.

Modric, now 39, has hinted at a desire to keep competing at the highest level, though a move to Qatar is reportedly an option he is considering if things don’t work out in Madrid.

Still, the Croatian legend has not finalised any move, preferring to wait for the club’s verdict.

Vazquez, on the other hand, has also received interest from several clubs, but like Modric, he remains unsure.

Despite their experience and loyalty, the future of both players will likely come down to the club’s long-term vision and whether the sporting management views them as useful assets or simply part of the past.

For now, all eyes are on the calendar, with the end of April rapidly approaching and decisions hanging in the balance.
