Real Madrid are ready to listen to offers for Ferland Mendy this summer, with the club valuing the French defender at around €14 million.
According to AS, the decision comes as a direct result of the recent signing of Alvaro Carreras from Benfica, a transfer that cost Madrid €50 million and has created an overcrowding problem in the left-back position.
At present, Xabi Alonso’s squad includes three players for that role, namely, Carreras, Mendy, and Fran Garcia. With too many options on the left side of defence, the club knows one of them must leave.
Right now, it seems Mendy is the likeliest to make way. Though the debate remains open between him and Garcia, Mendy’s age and injury history have placed him at the top of the exit list.
Mendy’s situation has been complicated by his fitness issues. At 30 years old, he is no longer considered an untouchable part of the squad.

This past season, he visited the treatment room on four seperate occasions. His last appearance came in the Copa del Rey final in April where he picked his injury that ruled him out of the FIFA Club World Cup.
Despite these concerns, Real Madrid believe there is still a market for Mendy, especially outside Europe. Two years ago, there was strong interest from Saudi Arabia, and the Spanish giants would not be surprised if similar offers arrived again.
However, they understand that his recent injury record and advancing age limit his transfer value.
Mendy has a contract with Real Madrid until 2028, so the club is not under immediate pressure to sell. Still, they are keen to resolve the situation this summer and free up space in the squad while generating some revenue.
Whether the offers come from Europe or further afield, Madrid are open to parting ways with the Frenchman if the right deal arrives.
