Trent Alexander-Arnold’s career at Liverpool might soon be over, as the defender preps for a potential move to Real Madrid in the summer.
The Englishman’s contract at Anfield expires at the end of the season, with Real Madrid ready to sign him on a free transfer.
Alexander-Arnold’s potential acquisition could be a step in the right direction as the club have lacked a long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal.
However, according to Jorge Picon, Real Madrid want to sign Alexander-Arnold sooner than June 30, which is when the player’s contract at Liverpool officially expires.
This is because Los Blancos want the English international to be available for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, which is set to start in mid-June.

Therefore, Real Madrid are hopeful of reaching an agreement with Alexander-Arnold and Liverpool that will allow the right-back to officially join the club before his contract officially expires.
This would require the approval of Liverpool, who are also participating in the FIFA Club World Cup this summer.
It must also be noted that such a situation has never happened in European football. Therefore, it will be interesting to see how this arrangement pans out.
There could be a possibility of Liverpool demanding a nominal fee in exchange for releasing Alexander-Arnold a bit early so that he could play for Real Madrid in the FIFA Club World Cup.
However, with Liverpool also participating in the Club World Cup, it won’t be surprising to see the Reds refusing to offload the Englishman either.
