Real Madrid have reportedly begun tracking RB Leipzig’s young defender, Castello Lukeba, as part of their ongoing search for future stars in defence, according to MARCA’s Jose Felix Diaz.
After missing out on securing Leny Yoro, the club has now turned its attention to other potential targets to strengthen its backline for the future.
One of the names currently being monitored is Lukeba, a 21-year-old centre-back who has been making waves in the Bundesliga since his move from Lyon to RB Leipzig in 2023.
It must be noted that the interest in the French defender is not recent. Reports suggest that Real Madrid scouts have been keeping a close eye on his performances for several weeks, with particular focus on high-stakes matches, such as the one between RB Leipzig and Atletico Madrid.
This particular match gave the scouts an opportunity to assess his skills in more challenging environments.
Lukeba joined Leipzig for a fee of €34.6 million. However, his value has significantly risen, with Transfermarkt now placing his worth at €40 million.

His ability as a left-footed central defender has made him a key player in Marco Rose’s lineup, and he has held a starting position in most of Leipzig’s matches since his arrival.
Real Madrid’s strategy in the transfer market remains clear: they are looking to secure young, promising talent to build a solid foundation for the future. Lukeba is just one of the many names on their radar.
Another emerging prospect is Victor Reis from Palmeiras, also being considered by the Madrid scouts.
In addition to seeking external talent, Real Madrid are also paying attention to their youth players. Joan Martinez, despite his long-term injury, is one of the key figures expected to make a comeback with a new contract.
Other players, such as Jacobo Ramon and Raul Asencio, are also being monitored from the Valdebebas academy as potential future options for the first team.
Real Madrid’s recruitment process is carefully selecting young talents with the right potential, and Lukeba could very well be the next piece in their defensive puzzle.
