As per Romano, a previously reported one-year extension pact now seems shaky and there is a stark possibility that Kroos considering a different path.

It has been reported in the past that Kroos has been mulling over an early retirement for quite some time now.

The German may have the perfect environment to retire this summer, as he has the opportunity to win his fifth UCL title with Real Madrid on June 1, before embarking on the Euro 2024 journey with Germany.

What about Luka Modric?

Modric’s situation appears equally ambiguous. While some reports suggest a greater openness to staying at his adopted home in Madrid, others hint at a potential departure.

The 38-year-old playmaker has expressed his desire to end his career at the top, leaving the door open for a move elsewhere if he feels he can no longer contribute at the highest level.

With the Champions League final looming large, the next few days are crucial for Real Madrid, as they look to nail down the future of these two midfield maestros.
