A somewhat bizarre statistic, surrounding the exploits of Real Madrid starlet Arda Güler across the season to date, has come to the fore on Friday.

Midfielder Güler, for his part, is of course in the midst of what has proven an altogether difficult debut season in Spain’s capital.

Owing to a combination of fitness problems and competition for places, the Turk has been afforded a grand total of just seven appearances in the colours of Real Madrid.

Only one of these, meanwhile, came in the form of a start.

And yet, Güler, surprisingly, nevertheless boasts sole possession of a La Liga benchmark for the 2023/24 campaign.

As much has been revealed by statisticians Opta on Friday evening.

The stat in question centers on the best goals-per-minute averages across the season to date, and places Real’s out-of-favour youngster at the very top.

Güler has managed one goal in Spain’s top-flight to date, against Celta Vigo early last month.

And, owing to as much, he stands alone as the player with the best goals-per-minute ratio in all of La Liga, with a strike rate of one in 31 minutes.
