Real Madrid have had a quiet end to the summer transfer window, although there has been speculation surrounding some of their players. Dani Ceballos was close to joining Marseille before a deal was cancelled, while Rodrygo Goes has continued to attract attention from the Premier League.

After the signing of Franco Mastantuono, it had appeared that Rodrygo was heading towards the exit door. He was perceived to be far down the pecking order in the eyes of Xabi Alonso, especially as he barely played during the Club World Cup earlier in the summer. However, he was handed a shock start last weekend when Real Madrid faced Real Oviedo.

There have been strong links to the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool throughout the summer, but it now appears that Rodrygo will not be going anywhere. And that’s how he sees it too, with Marca reporting that the 24-year-old goes not expect to leave the Santiago Bernabeu before Monday’s deadline.

Rodrygo is happy to stay at Real Madrid – for now

Earlier in the week, it was reported that Rodrygo is happy to remain as a Real Madrid player for the time being. However, that will change if he does not receive regular playing time, as he wants to show himself off to Carlo Ancelotti ahead of the World Cup next summer. The 24-year-old is in contention to be a starter for the Seleção, although his position would be in doubt if he does not play too often.

Rodrygo could look for an exit in January if he is unable to command a regular starting spot at Real Madrid, at which point there is a chance that he could make a move to the Premier League. But for now, all signs point to him remaining in the Spanish capital.
