Real Madrid are considering investing in signing a new centre-back in the summer, having suffered from the lack of depth in the position.
David Alaba has hardly played for over a year and is not getting any younger while Eder Militao has had two ACL injuries in two seasons. Antonio Rudiger is also in his thirties and has some knee issues as well.
The emergence of Raul Asencio and Jacobo Ramon this season is seen as a boost, but it will not come as a surprise to see Los Blancos decide to bring in a more established defender in the summer.
Links to Arsenal’s William Saliba have already been doing the rounds for some time now, with Real Madrid holding him in high regard.
Now, according to reports in England, as relayed by Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid also have their sights on Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate as well as Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite.

Konate has a contract with Liverpool until 2026. Despite being offered an extension by the Reds, he has yet to commit to a renewal.
While the Frenchman has stated that his focus remains on this season, he is aware of Real Madrid’s interest, as well as that of PSG, who could have an advantage in the race for his signature, as he is a Paris native and may be tempted by a return to his homeland.
Meanwhile, Branthwaite has been a standout performer at Everton and a full England international. The 22-year-old centre-back has become a key figure for the Toffees and is under contract until 2027.
While he is said to be open to extending his deal, Everton would consider selling him for around €80 million.
A new centre-back is not necessarily a priority for Los Blancos, though, with their main target being the signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold to reinforce the right-back position.
