Real Madrid are having to make do without their first-choice right-back for a while now, with Dani Carvajal being ruled out for the season due to an ACL injury.

Lucas Vazquez has been asked to step in and while the veteran Spaniard has done well enough, his defensive vulnerabilities have been exposed in recent weeks, creating an area of concern for the team.

Given the situation, Real Madrid looked into the possibility of bringing in Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool this month, but were met with failure.

Real Madrid turn down Kyle Walker

Given their situation, MARCA reports that Manchester City veteran right-back Kyle Walker was offered to Real Madrid this window.

The England international had fallen out of favour under Pep Guardiola and asked to leave the Etihad Stadium this winter, with the Premier League champions being happy to open the doors for his departure.

And, Real Madrid, as per the report, were offered to sign the former Tottenham man on loan for the rest of the season. However, Los Blancos rejected the opportunity.

Carlo Ancelotti would have benefited from Walker’s arrival, given the scarcity of options at right-back. However, the name of Alexander-Arnold was the only one on the agenda and remains the only option considered for this winter market.

As such, the Merengues decided to reject Walker and wait in case Liverpool reconsidered their stance on Alexander-Arnold.

However, with a week left before the transfer window closes, it appears unlikely that Alexander-Arnold will arrive while Walker is headed to AC Milan.

Federico Valverde filled in at right-back against RB Salzburg earlier this week and it will not be a surprise to see Ancelotti repeat that strategy in big games.
