Real Madrid’s win over Pachuca in the Intercontinental Cup final last night saw the front three step up with all attackers scoring goals.
Vinicius Jr. and Kylian Mbappe, as the mainstays in the attack, got on the scoresheet but the goal Rodrygo scored holds far more importance given the player’s situation.
The Brazilian phenom was faced with serious pressure from the media last summer, linking him out of Real Madrid as it appeared accepted that he could not thrive after the Frenchman’s arrival.
Despite the noise around Rodrygo’s future, the player has remained focused on the task at hand and has done well in his few minutes this season.

Only injuries have prevented the Brazilian from enjoying more prominence and one can expect him to play a more central role next year.
In a recent update by AS, the Spanish outlet confirmed that Real Madrid are not contemplating Rodrygo’s departure in any capacity as it stands and that they see him as a vital part of their project.
Further, the player himself is not looking for an exit from Los Blancos and there is no internal talk of his sale or the requirement of a replacement.
So far this season, the 23-year-old has made 14 appearances in La Liga and has four goals and two assists to his name in that duration. He averages 1.4 shots and 1.8 key passes per game and has created two big chances.
Several clubs, especially from the Premier League, have been linked with Rodrygo’s name. As of today, however, there is no chance of a departure in any sense of the word.
