Real Madrid make direct contact with superstar over contract renewal – report | OneFootball

As Real Madrid look to kickstart the new season this midweek, a layer of uncertainty remains surrounding the future of two of their Brazilian forwards in Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr.

While Rodrygo has been linked with a move away from Santiago Bernabeu this summer, Real Madrid have yet to reach an agreement with Vinicius over a renewal.

Talks were initially progressing well, but stalled earlier this summer, as the forward kept demanding the same salary as Kylian Mbappe.

This came against the backdrop of interest from Saudi Arabia, who remains determined to make the Brazilian their most ambitious signing yet.

Real Madrid still in talks with Vinicius

However, a recent report from Defensa Central suggests that Real Madrid have not abandoned contract talks with Vinicius.

In fact, there has been direct contact between the club and the player in recent hours, which comes just after the player’s agent was spotted at the club premises a few days ago.

Los Blancos have made it clear that they continue to see Vinicius as one of the best players in the world and want him to stay in Madrid long term.

As of now, the Brazilian is tied to Real Madrid until 2027. Starting next year, though, his situation could change if a renewal is not agreed, opening the door for potential suitors to step up their efforts.

Florentino Perez, however, is determined not to let Vinicius leave on a free, and remains confident that the winger himself wants to continue wearing white.

Vinicius, for his part, is keen on continuing at Real Madrid and the upcoming season, to that end, could prove to be a crucial one for the Brazilian as he looks to regain his form.

The offensive combination between Vinicius and Mbappe could go a long way in determining whether or not Real Madrid can fight for titles this season.
