Real Madrid are carefully considering their options for bolstering the defence, especially the centre-back position, as reports from MARCA reveal.
The outlet mentions that the upcoming matches will be crucial in guiding the club’s decisions on whether they will bring in new defensive talent.
With the winter transfer window approaching, Madrid’s management is evaluating their squad thoroughly during this pause in competitive play.
Currently, the two positions under review at Madrid are right-back and centre-back. The Los Blancos have already outlined a plan for the right-back role, but the search for a centre-back is ongoing.
Although this search initially focused on building for the next season, the next few weeks will be critical in deciding if Madrid take action sooner.
It has been suggested that the club has listed several potential centre-back targets, but it seems unlikely that any major moves will occur in January.

The club’s scouting team is looking at both short-term adjustments and long-term development to ensure any new addition aligns with Madrid’s strategic goals.
Among the names considered, Vitor Reis, Yarek Gasiorowski, Castello Lukeba, and Aymeric Laporte stand out. However, each of these options presents unique challenges and timing issues.
Lukeba, for example, has already committed to an extended stay with RB Leipzig until 2029, making an immediate transfer unlikely. Meanwhile, Laporte has expressed a desire to return to Europe, which keeps him in consideration for a mid-season move.
However, Madrid will carefully weigh if a mid-season signing aligns with their larger strategy. Reis is also a promising option, yet interest from other clubs makes securing him a competitive task.
Additionally, links with Gasiorowski are still in very early stages, indicating that any pursuit of him may require more time and negotiation.
In short, while Real Madrid have explored several potential centre-back additions, it seems probable they will continue to monitor and assess rather than rush into a January transfer.
The club’s leadership will closely observe player performances over the coming weeks, letting these next matches guide their choices for enhancing the defensive line.
