Real Madrid’s interest in Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold is no longer a well-kept secret. However, according to recent reports from Fichajes, the Spanish giants have already identified an alternative target in Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot.

If their pursuit of Alexander-Arnold does not materialise, Dalot is seen as a suitable option to fill the right-back position.

It is said that the reigning La Liga champions are actively looking for reinforcements, especially with Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez approaching the twilight of their careers.

Although Alexander-Arnold remains their top choice, Dalot is becoming an attractive alternative. His youth, coupled with his experience and solid performances at Manchester United, has caught Real Madrid’s attention.

Why Diogo Dalot?

Dalot joined Manchester United from Porto in 2018 and has since developed into a reliable player under Erik ten Hag. His loan spell at AC Milan played a key role in his development, giving him the confidence and playing time needed to establish himself in the United squad.

Now, at 25, the Portuguese has proven to be a versatile full-back who excels both defensively and offensively. This balance of skills has not gone unnoticed by top clubs across Europe, including Real Madrid.

In addition to his footballing qualities, Dalot is seen as an attractive prospect for Real Madrid due to his market value. With a weekly wage of £100,000, signing him would be financially manageable for the club without disrupting their existing salary structure.

However, despite his appeal, securing his transfer will not be straightforward. Manchester United are unlikely to let one of their most dependable defenders leave without a fight.

Looking ahead to next summer, Dalot’s future remains uncertain. While Real Madrid continue to explore their options to strengthen their right-back position, the potential signing of Dalot will largely hinge on Alexander-Arnold’s contract situation at Liverpool and United’s willingness to negotiate.
