According to a recent update from Fabrizio Romano, it has come to light that Real Madrid have not entered into any negotiations for Arsenal defender William Saliba, despite recent speculation.
The journalist suggests that there has been no contact between the Spanish giants and either the French centre-back or his club. At this stage, there has been no approach or discussion regarding a potential transfer.
In fact, Arsenal are determined to retain Saliba, making any move to Real Madrid highly unlikely in the near future.
The English club see him as a crucial part of their long-term plans, and with his contract running until 2027, they are under no pressure to entertain offers.
Real Madrid’s scouting department is constantly monitoring defensive options for the future, and Saliba is reportedly among the names that have caught their attention.

However, the club have a well-defined transfer strategy. They usually target players who are either nearing the end of their contracts or available for a reasonable fee.
Given that Saliba still has two years remaining on his current deal, signing him would require a significant financial outlay—something Madrid may not consider at this point.
While a transfer in 2025 seems out of reach, the situation could change in the future. By 2026, Saliba will have only one year left on his contract, which could present an opportunity for Real Madrid to make a move if the player is open to negotiations.
For now, the Frenchman is an undisputed starter at Arsenal, and there are no indications that he is pushing for an exit.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, may need to reinforce their defence in the coming years. With some of their key centre-backs approaching the latter stages of their careers, bringing in younger defensive options will become a priority.
Whether Saliba becomes a realistic target in the future remains to be seen, but at present, a transfer is not on the cards.
