Apart from wanting to reinforce their full-back slots with the signings of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alphonso Davies, Real Madrid are also on the lookout for a new central midfielder for the summer of 2025.
While numerous names have been mentioned as possible targets, one player who appears to be generating the most consensus at the Valdebebas is Real Sociedad ace Martin Zubimendi.
Indeed, Real Madrid are being linked strongly with the UEFA Euro 2024 winner, given his proven pedigree in La Liga as well as Los Blancos’ intention to add more Spanish players to their squad.

The midfielder did not let his head turn when Barcelona pushed to sign him to replace Sergio Busquets and went on to reject Liverpool last summer.
However, now, according to journalist Guillem Balague on BBC, Zubimendi is finally ‘ready to leave’ Real Sociedad, which will come as a major boost for Real Madrid.
But it must be noted that the reigning Spanish and European champions will not have it easy in their pursuit of the midfielder.
After all, Manchester City are also very much keen on signing Zubimendi while Liverpool also remain attentive to his situation. Barcelona, too, admire him but the financial situaton there makes a move unlikely as things stand.
Zubimendi has a release clause worth €60 million in his contract at Real Sociedad – a figure that will not be difficult to match for any of the aforementioned suitors.
So, it remains to be seen if Real Madrid are willing to act on their interest in the Euro 2024 winner come summer or whether Man City or Liverpool beat them to the punch.
