However, recent developments have indicated that the midfield maestros Toni Kroos and Luka Modric are closer to staying now than leaving.

And Lucas Vazquez, another one of the trusted members of the squad whose contract expires this summer, is also anticipated to continue plying his trade in the Spanish Capital.

Lucas Vazquez’s renewal is imminent

Indeed, according to Fabrizio Romano (h/t Madrid Xtra) Lucas Vazquez’s new deal is getting closer and appears almost imminent.

The defender is seen as a good option to rotate with Dani Carvajal in the right-back position, especially considering his solid form this year.

In fact, the 32-year-old most recently notched two assists and scored a goal in Real Madrid’s 4-4 draw against Villarreal.

Vazquez has constantly iterated his desire to stay put and it appears the Merengues are on the same page, as both parties are near a contract renewal. He has the faith of the coaching staff as well as the board.

While the length of the contract extension remains to be seen, all signs point toward a one-year renewal running until 2025.

Lucas Vazquez is not entertaining foreign offers

The Spaniard’s desire to continue donning the royal white jersey is seen in his approach toward offers from abroad.

Given he would become a free agent this summer, interest in him was hardly a surprise. However, Vazquez reportedly rejected Juventus with no intention of hitting the exit door.
