After a disappointing draw with Al Hilal in their opening match, Real Madrid will look to bounce back to form as they take on Pachuca today.
It is a must win game for Los Blancos if they are to qualify through to the next stage. One would, therefore, expect their top players to step up to the plate.
Vinicius Junior, in particular, will be in focus as he looks to make an impression on new coach Xabi Alonso, especially after a poor 2024/25 campaign.
However, Vinicius Junior could miss out on Real Madrid’s next game against RB Salzburg if he picks up a yellow card tonight.
This is according to FIFA Club World Cup’s suspension rules, which dictates any player picking up yellow cards in two different games will be ruled out for the next game.
This is quite a strict restriction imposed by FIFA to promote a fairer and less combative play in the FIFA Club World Cup.

Vinicius, in this regard, had picked up a booking during Real Madrid’s opening game against Al-Hilal. Another booking, therefore, will rule him out of the Salzburg contest.
It must also be noted that yellow cards at FIFA Club World Cup do not get wiped off until the quarterfinal stage, meaning Vinicius’ booking will stand even in the Round of 16 stage.
Real Madrid are slated to take on Salzburg on June 26, in what will be yet another must-win contest for Los Blancos.
Alonso, in fact, will not be expecting anything less than six points against Pachuca and Salzburg, as he looks to secure Real Madrid’s place in the next round.
Vinicius, meanwhile, must tread with caution as his potential absence could serve as a massive blow for a Real Madrid team, who are looking for attacking inspiration.
