The future of Rodrygo has been in the spotlight at Real Madrid lately, as the player continues to be heavily linked with a move to Liverpool.

Recent reports suggest the Reds are ready to do everything they can in order to bring the Brazilian international to Anfield this summer.

However, the move hasn’t accelerated yet as Rodrygo is yet to make a final decision over his future.

Rodrygo finding it difficult to leave Real Madrid

As the transfer merry-go-round surrounding Rodrygo continues, Fabrizio Romano (h/t Give Me Sport) has offered a fresh update on the saga.

According to the Italian transfer expert, while Real Madrid will allow Rodrygo to decide his own future, the forward is struggling with the idea of leaving the club.

Romano claims that Rodrygo “loves” Real Madrid and that saying goodbye will not be an easy step for him.

The 23-year-old shares a deep bond with the club, having grown both as a player and a person in Madrid since his arrival from Santos in 2019.

Despite the limited minutes he received during the FIFA Club World Cup – playing just 92 minutes across three matches and left out of the semifinal entirely – Rodrygo has not yet made up his mind to leave.

More discussions are expected to take place between the player and the club in the coming days, with Rodrygo seeking clarity over his role under Xabi Alonso heading into the 2025/26 campaign.

The coming weeks, therefore, could be critical as both parties look to make a final decision on the player’s future, especially with Liverpool more than prepared to make a move for the Brazilian international.
