Florian Wirtz is a player that Real Madrid have admired for quite some time now and have held an interest in signing the Bayer Leverkusen sensation.

With current Leverkusen boss, Xabi Alonso, set to take over the reins at the Santiago Bernabeu soon, the interest had seemingly gotten stronger as the Basque coach was keen on bringing the 22-year-old along with him to Madrid.

However, Wirtz has also been attracting serious interest from other top clubs, including Manchester City. And the Bundesliga gem seems to have made his decision already which will come as a blow for Los Blancos.

Florian Wirtz wants Bayern Munich, informs Alonso

Indeed, according to BILD, Wirtz has informed Xabi Alonso that he has ruled out moves to Real Madrid and Manchester City – his only destination of interest is Bayern Munich.

This development strongly suggests that the Wirtz family, led by the player’s father and advisor Hans Wirtz – who has a close relationship with Bayern honorary president Uli Hoeness – has reached a basic agreement with the Bundesliga giants.

The timing of the move remains uncertain, as Wirtz is still under contract at Leverkusen until 2027.

One of the most exciting young talents in Europe, Wirtz could have been an excellent addition at Real Madrid, who could be looking at some major tweaks in the summer after a season that has not met expectations.

However, it appears that the 22-year-old and his camp have their hearts set on a move to Bayern Munich, thus ruling out the possibility of a reunion with Alonso, who is understood to be the leading candidate to succeed Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid.
