It is no secret that Florian Wirtz has some of the biggest clubs in Europe gunning for him, especially following his contributions this season as he helped Bayer Leverkusen win the Bundesliga title.

Real Madrid, for one, are great admirers of the 20-year-old German international with an eye on him for the summer of 2025.

After all, it has been made clear by the player’s camp as well as Leverkusen that Wirtz will not be leaving this summer.

Real Madrid, though, face competition from some other heavy-hitters like Manchester City and Liverpool.

Bayern Munich could beat Real Madrid

However, as per a report from Florian Plettenberg, Real Madrid must watch out for Bayern Munich, who might steal Wirtz from under their noses in the summer of 2025.

Indeed, as per the report, the Bavarian giants have identified the 20-year-old sensation as their top target for the summer of 2025, with the player set to remain with Leverkusen for one more year.

Hinting at a big-money splash in the future, Bayern Munich’s honorary president Uli Hoeness recently said: “We can spend €100 million once for a Harry Kane, maybe once more for a German player, but not four or five times.“

With there being a strong interest in Wirtz from Bayern, the report states that if the Bavarians are able to afford the transfer fee, they have a very good chance of signing him in 2025.

It is because Wirtz and his family see Bayern Munich as the next step in his career before securing a move abroad.

As such, Real Madrid are running the risk of missing out on Wirtz next year if Bayern Munich are in a position to splash the fees needed for his signing.
