The centre-back position continues to generate much debate at Real Madrid given the injury issues that they have had in the department over the past year and a half.
With David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger not getting any younger and Eder Militao suffering back-to-back ACL injuries, it would not come as a surprise to see the Merengues enter the market for reinforcements in the summer.
One player who has been linked as a possible target to bolster the centre-back position at the Santiago Bernabeu is AFC Bournemouth starlet Dean Huijsen.
The 19-year-old defensive prodigy is enjoying a brilliant debut season in the Premier League since joining from Juventus last summer, putting him on the radars of top clubs like Real Madrid and Manchester United.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has come forward with an interesting detail about the young defender’s contract at Bournemouth, which runs until the summer of 2030.
As per the report from the transfer expert, Huijsen’s contract with the Premier League club contains a release clause worth £50 million which will be valid from this year.

Meaning, interested clubs, such as Real Madrid, can sign the young Spaniard for a fee of £50 million in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Huijsen, who had previously rejected Real Madrid before moving to Juventus, has been in fine form for Andoni Iraola’s team in the Premier League this term.
The teenager has played in 19 league games, even scoring a couple of goals, helping Bournemouth contest for a Champions League spot for next season – with the club currently sitting in fifth place.
What now remains to be seen is whether Real Madrid are willing to activate the £50 million release clause for Huijsen, considering that they were reluctant to shell out a similar sum for Leny Yoro last summer.
