Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappé on Monday night made use of the opportunity to aim a less-than-subtle dig at both the club, and head coach Luis Enrique.

Frontman Mbappé, for his part, is fresh off adding to his silverware cabinet late yesterday evening.

The 25-year-old, as expected, clinched the prize for Ligue 1 Player of the Year, owing to a stellar haul of 27 goals and seven assists.

After making his way to the podium to accept the award, however, attentions quickly turned away from Mbappé’s accolade, and towards his future.

It is of course common knowledge that the France international is on his way to Spain this summer, to link up with La Liga champions Real Madrid.

After publicly announcing his decision not to renew his expiring contract with PSG late last week, Mbappé then played out his final home game at the Parc des Princes on Sunday night.

It came as something of a surprise, however, when the prolific attacker was not brought off before the full-time whistle, a long-standing custom for departing players across world football, to allow for one last standing ovation from the home crowd.

And, drawn on as much on Monday night, Mbappé was not shy in directing a jibe at both manager Luis Enrique, and Paris Saint-Germain as a club:

“Surprised that I wasn’t subbed out to get a last ovation from the Parc? I’m not surprised with anything anymore…”
