As the transfer window nears the second half of July, Real Madrid’s focus has shifted from the arrivals to the departures front. Rodrygo Goes, on that front, is a prime candidate.

Xabi Alonso’s system, as evident in the FIFA Club World Cup, requires only two starting options in the forward department. With the manager not counting on the Brazilian even as a backup, staying at the club does not seem to be a viable decision for the youngster.

Needless to say, the situation is hard on Rodrygo who has been nothing but faithful to the Real Madrid crest in all his years at the club.

Now faced with a scenario where he is forced to leave has him understandably shaken up and startled.

Conversations ongoing

As relayed by Fabrizio Romano in a recent report, Real Madrid and Rodrygo have already begun conversations to discuss and finalise the player’s future.

The aim is to clarify his situation at the earliest and work out a solution that best suits all parties involved.

The talks are expected to progress rapidly and unfold new developments in the coming days. As it stands, however, Los Blancos’ asking demands for Rodrygo are indeed high.

As confirmed by the ever-reliable journalist, Real Madrid want a fee of €100 million at least for Rodrygo should he leave this summer. That demand, however, could well be a hurdle for the player to secure an exit.

Concurrently, however, this is just the starting point of Real Madrid’s negotiations and the fee could indeed reduce as negotiations progress.

Arsenal and Liverpool have emerged as strong suitors for the winger with the latter reportedly willing to spend big to lure him to Anfield.

Rodrygo, for his part, would be open to a move to the Premier League if staying at Real Madrid is not an option.
