In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Real Madrid are showing interest in Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero. It has been claimed that Los Blancos are eyeing a move for the Argentine centre-back in the upcoming transfer window.

Romero’s Impressive Run Of Form In North London

Romero is having a solid campaign at the North London club after putting in a series of impressive displays at the heart of Tottenham’s backline. The 25-year-old has made 23 appearances for Spurs this season, scoring four goals on all fronts.

The Cordoba-born talent has been a solid presence inside his half as he is averaging 2.0 tackles, 1.4 interceptions and 3.1 clearances per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball from the back based on his pass completion rate of 92.2% in league football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the North London club will expire in the summer of 2027. Hence, it won’t be easy for Real Madrid to get a deal done for him on the cheap at the end of this season.

Is Romero A Decent Fit For Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti?

Romero is a tough-tackling central defender who can time his challenges well to make some timely interceptions for his side on the defensive end of the field. He can sense the danger quickly and doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive.

Standing at 1.85m, the Argentine can use his robust frame to dominate the opposition attackers physically in the air. He excels at playing his way out from the back. At the moment, Romero is playing some of the best football of his career. Thus, he would be a great fit for Real Madrid‘s defensive needs this summer.

We can expect him to bring more bite and steel to Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti’s defence. At 25, Romero’s peak years are ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for the Madrid giants to consider in the summer transfer window. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in Spanish football if Real Madrid manage to bring him on board later this year.
