The serious injury suffered by Dani Carvajal has significantly impacted the squad planning for Real Madrid. Previously, the Merengues were working only on a single operation, that of Alphonso Davies, but the captain’s injury has further weakened the Merengue backline, which was already short of options in the centre at the start of the season.

In such a scenario, there is a lot of uncertainty about whether Los Blancos will bring in the required reinforcements in January or wait till the end of this season.

The latest update in this regard is provided by Diario AS, which claims that as things stand, Real Madrid have not decided to make any moves in the upcoming winter market. However, things can change if the team shows serious deficiencies in the two and half months that are still remaining before January.

But one thing that is quite certain is that the Merengues will make a big signing for the right-back position in the summer of 2025, especially as Carvajal will be 33 when he returns from this injury, and there are serious doubts about whether he will be able to return to his best level from such a traumatic episode.

In this regard, there are two main targets on the minds of the decision-makers at Real Madrid. The most likely candidate is the Liverpool fullback, Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is the most highly valued right-back at the Transfermarkt portal, with a €70 million valuation, but who can be obtained for free next summer.

On the other hand, there is the Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong, who had a very good last season in which he scored 12 goals and provided 14 assists. He lacks in experience playing at the very elite level, but Real Madrid’s good relations with Bayer Leverkusen can favour the Dutchman in this regard.

Furthermore, he is also trusted quite highly by Xabi Alonso, who is generally being touted as the successor of Carlo Ancelotti on the Real Madrid bench.
