Fabrizio Romano reveals that Jose Mourinho and Fenerbahce have opted against signing Jadon Sancho, as they turn their efforts towards an alternative target.

The winger is finding himself in a peculiar situation, as Chelsea chose to pay a £5 million penalty to relieve themselves of the obligation to pay £25 million for his services, while Ruben Amorim has made it abundantly clear that he doesn’t wish to grant him another opportunity to thrive at Old Trafford.

In recent weeks, Fenerbahce emerged as a potential destination Sancho, after proving to be a safe haven for other former Man Utd players, particularly Fred and Sofyan Amrabat.

However, Romano revealed on Saturday morning that the Istanbul-based giants are not in active talks with the Englishman, thus confirming recent reports on Mourinho’s stance.

Mourinho overlooks Sancho, keen to bring Jhon Duran

The Italian journalist added in the same post that Fenerbahce are instead focused on landing Jhon Duran.

Almost half an hour later, Romano followed it up with another post on X, confirming that Al-Nassr have given Duran the green light to join the Turkish club, who must now find an agreement on personal terms with the Colombian.

The 21-year-old had only completed his transfer from Aston Villa to the Saudi Pro League giants in January, signing a contract until June 2030. Nevertheless, he could be set for a swift return to Europe.

What’s next for Man United and Jadon Sancho?

With Fenerbahce preferring to pursue Duran, Man Utd are left with the task of finding the England international a new club. In recent days, Sancho been heavily linked with Juventus and Napoli.

While both Serie A giants are willing to pay United’s requested transfer fee (circa €25 million), the player’s salary represents the main hurdle.

So it remains to be seen if the 25-year-old would be willing to accept a pay cut to facilitate his long-overdue exit.
