Rasmus Hojlund’s stance on Manchester United exit emerges | OneFootball

On the day Manchester United introduced Benjamin Sesko to the Old Trafford crowd, Ruben Amorim sent a strong message to Rasmus Hojlund.

Hojlund was left on the bench in his side’s 1-1 draw against Fiorentina, with Amorim electing to start attacking midfielder Mason Mount up front.

He endured a torrid 2024/25 campaign under Amorim, managing just four goals in the Premier League. Signed from Atalanta in a £72m deal in July 2023, the Dane also struggled to find his feet under Erik ten Hag.

Manchester United keen to push Hojlund out

According to the Manchester Evening News, United decided early this calendar year to cash in on Hojlund if they signed a new number nine.

The Red Devils have officially signed Sesko from RB Leipzig, and AC Milan have touched base with them for Hojlund.

The outlet claim United are “confident a deal can be struck” with the Serie A giants, who are revamping their attack for new boss Massimiliano Allegri

The report further states: “It remains unclear whether a permanent deal could materialise as United value Hojlund at around £30million and Milan are seeking a loan move for the 22-year-old.”

Just over a week ago, Hojlund insisted he wanted to stay at United and fight for his place under Amorim. He also impressed with his performance against Bournemouth, scoring a well-timed header in a convincing win.

Hojlund unhappy with Man United’s stance

Now, it is understood that he is open to joining Milan. The player’s camp reportedly felt he would have to leave if the Slovenian came in.

The Denmark international is thought to be “unhappy at United seemingly forcing him out.”

Ahead of the 2026 World Cup, players like Hojlund need to play regularly to make the cut for the tournament. As such, it would be best for the young striker to return to familiar surroundings to rediscover his confidence.

The ex-Atalanta man enjoyed a prolific stint in Serie A before attracting United’s interest in the summer of 2023. His reputation in Italy remains strong.
