Alejandro Garnacho has been informed to find a new club with Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim keen to offload the winger.
The decision comes after Garnacho’s public unhappiness at his role in the club’s Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
Garnacho scored 11 goals and provided nine assists for Manchester United this season, but question marks over his attitude and role in Amorim’s preferred system have led to a decision on his future.
Several sides expressed interest in the Argentine in January and there are expected to be suitors again. For those interested in the latest online odds and betting bonuses, we’ve ranked the five favourites to sign Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United this summer.
Erik ten Hag’s appointment at Bayer Leverkusen has opened the door to potential interest in several Manchester United names.
Ten Hag gave Garnacho his debut at Old Trafford, following his fine performances for the academy sides. Leverkusen are also likely to be in the market for attacking options, as Florian Wirtz nears an exit. The German is expected to sign for Liverpool in a club-record deal, a transfer that could arm Leverkusen with the funds to get a deal done.
Juventus are another side searching for firepower from wide, with the Italians set to decline the chance to sign loanee Francisco Conceicao on a permanent deal.
The Serie A side have made plenty of mistakes in the market of late, allowing highly-rated prospects in Dean Huijsen and Matias Soule to leave for modest fees. A re-injection of potential and promise is on the agenda for the Bianconeri this summer.
Chelsea were linked with signing Garnacho in January and enquired into the conditions of a potential deal. The Blues are not short of depth in wide areas, but with Mykhailo Mudryk’s future uncertain and Jadon Sancho’s loan not likely to be made permanent, another addition could be sought.
Chelsea have focused on emerging talent in recent windows and the 20-year-old Garnacho fits the brief.
Garnacho spent five seasons in the Atletico Madrid academy before his decision to move to England. The Spanish side has kept a close eye on his development with Diego Simeone understood to be a huge admirer.
Garnacho’s direct style and willingness to work appear well-suited to Simeone’s demands, while the winger could take encouragement from how former teammate Antony has thrived since leaving Old Trafford for La Liga. After a tough time in Manchester, Antony has been a revelation on loan at Real Betis.
Napoli are the frontrunners to sign Garnacho having first expressed interest in January. The Italian champions are preparing to return to the Champions League next season and are seeking further firepower.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s winter sale to Paris Saint-Germain and the expected exit of Victor Osimhen will provide substantial funds for Antonio Conte to spend. Napoli signed Scott McTominay from Manchester United last summer and the midfielder went from unwanted asset to Serie A MVP inside 12 months. Could Garnacho follow a similar path in Naples?
